New Opportunity for 2025: Add-On Wolf Tag Just Got Better in Saskatchewan

If you're a hunter with a dream of bagging a wolf in the Saskatchewan backcountry, we’ve got some good news.
Starting in the 2025 season, the Saskatchewan Ministry has made a key change to the add-on wolf tag — and it’s a win for both hunters and outfitters.
🐺 What’s Changed?
Previously, hunters with a big game license (for white-tailed deer or moose) and an add-on wolf tag had to harvest their wolf while still hunting under that primary license.
Now, that restriction is lifted.
As of the 2025 season, once your deer or moose tag is filled, you can still stay out and hunt wolf using your add-on tag — as long as you're with a licensed outfitter who has the guided wolf endorsement.
This means more flexibility, more opportunity, and more time to enjoy the Saskatchewan wilderness in pursuit of one of North America’s most elusive predators.
🎯 Why This Matters
For hunters: You now have a legitimate shot at taking a wolf after your main hunt wraps up. That means your trip doesn’t end when your deer or moose hunt does — it just shifts gears.
For outfitters: This opens up greater value for our clients and allows us to expand what we offer, making Saskatchewan even more attractive as a destination for international hunters.
💬 SCPO Pushing for More
While this is a great step forward, the Saskatchewan Commission of Professional Outfitters (SCPO) continues to advocate for a stand-alone wolf hunt — something not tied to a big game license at all.
They’ve submitted a detailed proposal to the Ministry, showing how this could bring new revenue and tourism to the province. We're hopeful that continued conversations will lead to even more hunting opportunities in the near future.
